According to exports data of spirits of Turkey, raki is the second most exported alcoholic drink.
The marketing efforts for raki made in international markes has been very limited due to being owned by the government monopoly until 2004.
Considered as being produced all around the world, even vodka has became known in the other countries by exceeding the borders of Russia and Poland only back in 1930.
On the other hand, the Mexican spirit, tequila increased its popularity in the USA with the illegal sales during the prohibition era between 1919 to 1933.
Eventhough the international recognition of the spirits all around the world is relatively new, when total marketing investment for those categories is considered, there are important efforts to be put forward raki. Sectoral solidarity, the support of state, the correct agricultural policies should be provided in this field.
Growth trend of raki is moving on a slow pace but is consistent.
